Authorities are still searching for 37-year-old Dennikia Boyce, who is accused of killing two men at a VDOT equipment yard in Chesterfield County.

Virginia State Police say Rai’Shon Eugene Delarge, 30, and Philip Avery Wilson, 34, were working as contractors at the Route 1 site near Route 288 when they were shot on the morning of July 24. Delarge died at the scene, while Wilson later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting was domestic in nature and say Boyce had been in a relationship with one of the victims. She reportedly has ties to the Emporia area and previously worked as a correctional officer.

Boyce is described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Officials are warning residents not to approach her.

Anyone who sees Boyce should call 911 immediately. The U.S. Marshals Service and Virginia State Police are both assisting with the search.

A woman was killed yesterday morning in a head-on crash near Bradley Bridge and Woodpecker roads in Chesterfield County.

Police say the woman was driving a Honda north on Bradley Bridge Road when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Tesla. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Tesla, an adult man, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. in the 15200 block of Bradley Bridge Road, near the Exxon gas station. The woman’s identity had not been released while authorities worked to notify her family.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Chesterfield County Police at 804-748-1251, Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660 or through the P3 app.

Our thoughts are with the woman’s loved ones and everyone affected by this tragedy.

Firefighters and EMS crews were called to an apartment building on Enclave Drive early Saturday morning after someone reported smoke and flames coming from a third-floor unit.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 25 minutes. One person was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported.

Four apartments were affected altogether. One unit suffered damage from the fire and smoke, while three others were damaged by water used during the response.

Investigators believe the fire started because of unattended cooking, an important reminder for all of us to stay close to the kitchen whenever something is on the stove.

A beloved Chesterfield teacher is making progress after undergoing a double lung transplant.

Christine Hunsberger-Falconio, who teaches at J.G. Hening Elementary School, had the procedure on July 17 and has now begun rehabilitation.

Christine is a cancer survivor who contracted COVID in 2021. The illness caused serious and worsening damage to her lungs, and doctors eventually told her that a double lung transplant was her only option.

She traveled to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she waited for a donor and eventually received the life-changing surgery.

Christine still has additional testing, lab work and rehabilitation ahead of her, but she hopes to return home to Chesterfield once she is strong enough. Her ultimate goal is to get back into the classroom with her students.

She shared her appreciation for the many people who have supported her throughout the journey. The community is continuing to send her plenty of encouragement as she heals.

Chesterfield County residents will have an opportunity to learn more about proposed traffic improvements along Hull Street Road.

A community meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 7, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center in Midlothian.

The plans focus on the intersections of Hull Street Road and Brad McNeer Parkway, along with Brad McNeer Parkway and Craig Rath Boulevard.

Residents will be able to review the proposals, hear more about the potential changes and provide feedback. For anyone who regularly drives through this busy part of the county, this is a chance to see what may be coming and ask questions directly.

The Chesterfield community joined others across the region in remembering Richmond Police Officer Douglas Wendel, who was killed in the line of duty on July 30, 2003.

More than two decades later, his courage, dedication and service continue to be honored by the communities he helped protect.

Officer Wendel’s sacrifice remains a powerful reminder of the risks law enforcement officers take while serving their neighbors.

His memory has not been forgotten, and the community continues to recognize the impact of his service and the loss felt by his family, fellow officers and friends.
